Mr Ahmed graduated from University of Birmingham Medical School in 1997 and undertook training in ear, nose and throat surgery in the West Midlands. He then undertook 18 months of advanced clinical fellowships in sinus and skull base surgery in Nottingham and South Africa, and a further 3 months shadowing in internationally acclaimed centres in America, Germany and Switzerland.
Mr Ahmed was appointed as Consultant Rhinologist and Skull Base Surgeon at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust in 2010.
He completed his PhD in January 2013 investigating chronic sinus disease and continues a strong academic profile with regular publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and presentations.
Mr Ahmed specialises in all aspects of advanced sinus surgery – approaching brain and skull base via nose as well as revision surgery, computer assisted sinus surgery and pituitary and skull base surgery.
Mr Ahmed performed over 400 sinonasal operations last year and runs his own annual international masterclass dissection course in endoscopic skull base surgery to train other surgeons.
